A Night in the Village that I will never forget.

The Halloween Parade, in New York City, is a combination of Marde Gras, Comiccon and a fever dream. For four years, a buddy of mine and myself braved the NY traffic and chaos to go and try to capture the raw energy of the night outside of the parade.

Our last visit was on Halloween, October 31st, 2001, 7 weeks after the terrorist attack that took down the Twin Towers, now known as 9/11.

Security was certainly tighter than our past visits, with check points and a very visible police presence. But, the energy of the participants was higher than ever.

It was as if the crowd of people, both local and from far away, said, “No. You cannot crush the spirit of NYC and America!”

It was a night of costumes and characters that I will never forget.
